Weaver Vale Housing Trust used a 4.3 million project social housing project in Frodsham,Cheshire to demonstrate how affordable social housing can be built in line with the Code for Sustainable homes.

With level 3 of the Code now the minimum requirement for new build properties, a number of sustainable technologies were considered at the planning stage. This resulted in the installation of Greenskies solar thermal collectors working with a Greenstar high-efficiency condensing boiler to cater for heating and hot water. The Housing Trust has since fitted Greenskies solar collectors to 122 off mains gas properties in the region over the last 2-3 years, to help reduce their fuel consumption.
